We were just celebrating Thanksgiving and now Hanukkah and Christmas preparations are underway.  I wanted to thank everyone for the generous gift of giving your time and talents to make Tower Hill School the very special place it is.  This holiday our home will be filled with family, which is always very special.  I do think of all of you on Christmas morning and picture the excitement of your children when they find out Santa has come, maybe even down the chimney.

If your family celebrates Hanukkah, please set up a time with your child’s teacher to share some family traditions.  Perhaps you could share a special book about Hanukkah, make a special snack and light the Menorah.  It is a beautiful experience for children to learn about family traditions from their own family as well as others.

Our Christmas preparations will include decorating the Christmas tree in the school foyer.  The classrooms will be filled with the holiday spirit and lots of glitter will be in the air.  Paper chains, ornaments and sparkly lights will adorn the tree.  Our school holiday collection will be new books for children at Lunch Break.  Look for further details on your class bulletin board.

Another Christmas tradition at Tower Hill School is our visits to the church sanctuary on Wednesday, December 14th and Thursday, December 15th.  We will sing Christmas songs and Mrs. Badal’s class will act out the Christmas story complete with costumes designed and sewn by the children themselves.  (Keep your eyes open for THS alumni special guests)  Families and friends are invited to join us.  Please check your teacher’s bulletin board for specific times.

Try to remember that the holidays, as special as they are, can be very hectic, especially for children.  Remember to spend time together as a family enjoying each other.  Gifts for your children are not only hidden in boxes tied with bows, they are special moments that are spent together singing, reading, baking and laughing.  This year take the time to let your loved ones know how much you care.

From all of us on the Tower Hill staff, it is our wish for your holidays to be warm, loving and filled with peace and happiness.

Love you all,

Mrs. deBrigard  ♥    Susan A. deBrigard, Tower Hill School Director
