COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS

Each family is expected to fulfill their school obligation by volunteering a minimum of 8 hours per family each school year.  Listed below are some of the committee descriptions. Sign-ups for committee work will be sent out periodically throughout the year using a Sign-Up Genius.

Building/Grounds: Work is completed in the evenings and on the weekends and consists primarily of cleaning and upkeep of our school playground. Other jobs include building new and repairing old equipment, cleaning classroom toys and replacing batteries, doing general yard work around the building as well as painting school areas as needed.

Community Outreach: Help to plan and organize outreach activities between the school, the church and local missions.  These collections include Dominican Republic Bags, Thanksgiving Food Drive, Holiday Pajama and Book Drive as well as Easter Chocolate for Lunch Break.

Fairs & Festivals: Help prep for and run the annual Fall Festival held in October and Bear Fair held in April.  Assist with preparations for and set up, help as needed the day of and clean up after the event.

Fundraising: Assists in various fundraising activities throughout the year such as movie nights, dinners out, apparel sales, Holiday photos, etc.  Helps plan and execute the highly anticipated spring event including gathering auction items, set up and break down as well as helping as needed at the event.

Health: Health care professionals needed to advise on health and safety matters as well as review health forms and immunization records.  Helps plan and coordinate a health related event in the spring and oversees our annual Confetti Run on Memorial Day Weekend.

Photography/Yearbook: Responsible for taking pictures at major school events as well as pulling pictures from the various class Shutterfly accounts to be used in the yearbook.  Assist the professional photography company hired for school picture day.  Spearhead the taking of Holiday Photos as a school fundraiser.  Create an end of year yearbook using Shutterfly.

Registration: Lead tours at Open Houses in January, February and March.  Must LOVE Tower Hill School.

Sewing/Learning Games: Responsible for sewing projects such as making curtains and repairing smocks, dress-up clothes etc.  Also makes learning games and enrichment materials for classrooms as requested by teachers.  Work is completed at home.

Special Events: Help prep for and run special events throughout the year including the Pumpkin Patch, Thanksgiving Feasts, Book Fair, Book Event and Teacher Appreciation Luncheon.  Assist with preparations for and set up, help as needed the day of and clean up after the event.

Teacher Appreciation: Help show our teachers how much we appreciate them throughout the year by providing gift items and food to shower our teachers with love.
